(Dump, Stir, Walk Away)
Rich, creamy, no babysitting required.

This is the mac & cheese I make when my hands are full and my patience is not. It’s a true dump-and-go crockpot recipe - no roux, no fancy steps, and no standing over the stove while someone needs something every five seconds.
It’s creamy, comforting, and forgiving. Perfect for busy afternoons, chaotic evenings, and days when the crockpot is doing more parenting than you are. Trust me every one will be asking for this recipe!(my mother included).
Ingredients
1 box elbow macaroni
1 block cream cheese, cubed
8 oz sour cream
16 oz shredded white cheddar cheese
8 oz shredded yellow cheddar (or cheese of your choice)
1 teaspoon ground mustard
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup milk or heavy cream (who’s calorie counting?)
Instructions
Spray the inside of your crockpot with nonstick spray.
Add uncooked macaroni to the crockpot.
Add cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheeses, milk or cream, ground mustard, salt, and pepper.
Stir well to combine. Sprinkle extra cheese on top
Cover and cook on LOW for 2–3 hours, stirring once or twice if you can.
When pasta is tender and sauce is creamy, stir well and serve. If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of milk and stir.
Busy Mom Notes/ Tools I Use
Tools I used in this recipe and others can be found on my Shop My Kitchen Page
Some of the links below are affiliate links. That means I may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you make a purchase. I only link things I actually use and love — promise.
Stirring halfway helps, but if you forget - it’s still fine.
Use freshly shredded cheese for the smoothest texture- I use a simple box grater and it makes a big difference.

This is great for potlucks, school events, or feeding a crowd.
I use a 6-quart slow cooker for this recipe because it gives the pasta room to cook evenly without sticking.

Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat with a splash of milk to bring back the creaminess.
Optional Variations
Protein boost: Add cooked bacon or shredded chicken.
Kid swap: Use Colby Jack or mild cheddar only.
Extra creamy: Replace milk with heavy cream (highly encouraged).
